Washer Will Not Start in Colorado Springs

Why Nothing Happens When You Press Start
A washer that will not start is either not getting power, not confirming the door is shut, or has a control board that has stopped responding.
Order matters. Check power, then the door lock, then reset the board. Only after those three does it become a parts problem.
If the machine powers on but the cycle never begins, that is a different fault from a completely dead panel, and it points at the lid switch or door lock rather than the power supply.
Work Through These In Order
1. Power
Check the plug is fully seated, then the breaker. Laundry circuits trip more often than people expect, and a breaker can look closed while actually being tripped — flip it fully off and back on. If the machine shares a circuit with a dryer, test with the dryer off.
2. Door or lid not confirming closed
The safety circuit will not allow a cycle to start until it knows the door is shut. A failed lid switch or door lock assembly gives you a machine with lights on that simply will not begin. Check nothing is caught in the seal, then listen for the click when you close it. No click usually means the lock.

3. Control board needs a reset
Unplug for three minutes and plug back in. This clears the board memory and resolves a good share of no-start faults that follow a power flicker. If it works once and fails again next week, the board is genuinely failing.
4. Water supply
Some machines will not begin a cycle if they cannot detect incoming water. Check both taps are open and the fill hoses are not kinked. Codes 4C on Samsung, F8E1 or LF on Whirlpool.
5. Control board or power supply failure
If the machine also powers itself on and off, or shuts down partway through cycles, the fault is electrical. That combination points at the board rather than any single switch.
6. Timer or user interface
On older machines the timer motor fails. On newer ones the touch panel separates from the board and buttons stop registering while the display still lights.
Before You Call
- Try a different outlet if one is reachable, or test the outlet with something else.
- Cycle the breaker fully off and on.
- Open and close the door firmly and listen for the lock click.
- Unplug for three minutes, then retry.
- Check both supply taps are open.
Stop and call if the breaker trips again immediately, you smell burning, or the machine sparks. Those are electrical faults, not inconveniences.

After a storm
