This website carries a lot of practical detail: error code meanings, symptom guides, part-level explanations and step-by-step checks. It is published to help you understand what is happening to your machine and to avoid paying for repairs you do not need.
It is general information, not a diagnosis of your specific appliance. Washing machines vary considerably by brand, model and year, and the same error code can have several different causes.
Safety First
Some checks on this site involve reaching behind or inside an appliance. Before doing any of them:
- Unplug the machine. Never work on a washer that is still connected to power.
- Shut off the water supply valves behind the machine.
- Be ready for water. There is more in a drum and pump housing than most people expect.
- Stop if you are unsure. There is no shame in it, and it is cheaper than an injury or a bigger repair.
Never do these
- Never bypass a lid switch or door lock. That switch stops the drum when the door opens. A machine running without it is a hazard, most often to a child. We will not do it either, and we will tell you if a previous repair left yours bypassed.
- Never use a heat gun or naked flame to thaw a frozen appliance.
- Never force a locked door. See washer door locked shut for the safe method.
- Never keep resetting a breaker that trips repeatedly. That is an electrical fault needing an electrician.
Limits of the Information Here
- Error codes name a symptom, not a cause. A drain code can mean a blocked filter, a failed pump or a sensor reading wrong — three different repairs at three different prices.
- Procedures vary by model. Reset and calibration sequences differ across model lines. Always check your machine documentation.
- Prices are estimates for this market. Your actual price is confirmed after on-site testing.

- DIY may affect your warranty. If your machine is still under manufacturer warranty, check before opening anything.
